Terms & Conditions
These Terms and Conditions form a binding agreement between you and the Rwanda Bankers Association ("RBA"). Please read them carefully before accessing or using the RBA eLearning Platform. By registering for or using the platform, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, you must not access or use the platform.

1. Definitions
In these Terms and Conditions, the following definitions apply unless the context requires otherwise:
"Platform" refers to the RBA eLearning website, its learning management system, mobile applications, and all related services and features.
"RBA" / "We" / "Us" refers to the Rwanda Bankers Association, the owner and operator of the Platform.
"User" / "You" refers to any individual who registers for, accesses, or uses the Platform, including employees and authorised representatives of RBA member institutions.
"Member Institution" refers to any bank or financial institution that holds membership with the Rwanda Bankers Association.
"Content" refers to all text, course materials, videos, assessments, templates, documents, graphics, data, and any other material available on or delivered through the Platform.
"RBA Content" refers to Content owned or licensed by RBA, including all course materials, assessments, certificates, and platform infrastructure.
"User Content" refers to any material, data, text, images, or other content that a User submits, posts, or uploads to the Platform, including discussion forum posts and assessment responses.
"Account" refers to the registered learner profile created upon enrolment on the Platform.
"Agreement" refers to these Terms and Conditions together with the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, all of which form the complete agreement between You and RBA.
2. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an Account or accessing the Platform, you confirm that:
You are at least 18 years of age.
You are an employee or authorised representative of an RBA member institution, or have been granted access by RBA.
You have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions, the Privacy Policy, and the Cookie Policy.
All registration information you provide is true, accurate, current, and complete, and you agree to maintain its accuracy throughout your use of the Platform.
Where you are accepting these terms on behalf of your employer or organisation, you have the authority to do so and bind that organisation to this Agreement.
RBA reserves the right to update or modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Unless we make a change for legal or administrative reasons, we will provide reasonable advance notice before changes take effect, by posting a notice on the Platform or sending you an email. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date of any updated terms constitutes your acceptance. If you do not agree to the updated terms, you must stop using the Platform.
3. Account Registration and Security
3.1 Account Creation
To access learning features, you must create an Account using accurate and complete information. You may only create an Account for yourself. Except where an employer or institution has been expressly authorised to enrol users on their behalf, you must not create an Account for any other person. You are responsible for all activity that occurs through your Account.
3.2 Credentials and Security
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential. You must not share your username or password with any other person, and you must not transfer, sell, or assign your Account or Account rights to anyone else. If you believe your Account has been compromised or accessed without authorisation, you must notify RBA immediately at info@rba.rw.
3.3 Account Suspension and Termination
RBA may suspend or terminate your Account at any time, with or without notice, if you are found to be in breach of this Agreement, if your Member Institution's membership with RBA lapses or is revoked, or if we reasonably suspect misuse of the Platform. Upon termination, all licences granted to you under this Agreement cease immediately. If your Account is terminated for breach, you may not re-register without RBA's prior written consent.
3.4 Account Accuracy
You agree to update your profile information as necessary to ensure it remains accurate and current. Providing false or misleading information is a breach of this Agreement and may result in immediate Account suspension.
4. Permitted Use of the Platform
The Platform is made available exclusively for professional training and development purposes within the banking sector. You are permitted to:
Access and complete courses and learning modules assigned or available to you.
Download or print RBA Content solely for your own personal, non-commercial professional development.
Participate in assessments, quizzes, collaborative exercises, and discussion activities.
Track your learning progress and download or print certificates of completion issued to you.
Submit feedback to RBA about the Platform and its content.
Any use of the Platform beyond what is expressly permitted above requires RBA's prior written consent.
5. Prohibited Conduct
The following conduct is strictly prohibited. The table below summarises the key categories; the detailed provisions that follow are equally binding.

Account misuse | Sharing credentials, creating accounts for others, impersonating another user or RBA staff. |
Harmful content | Uploading violent, discriminatory, offensive, pornographic, or unlawful material. |
Platform integrity | Introducing malware, bots, scrapers, or code that disrupts or reverse-engineers the platform. |
Intellectual property | Reproducing, redistributing, or commercially exploiting course materials without written consent from RBA. |
Data & privacy | Harvesting other users' data, posting sensitive personal data of others, or misusing AI-generated content. |
Commercial misuse | Using the platform or its content for unauthorised commercial purposes, including AI model training. |
Academic dishonesty | Completing assessments on behalf of another user, sharing assessment answers, or falsifying completion. |
Legal violations | Any activity that violates Rwandan law or internationally applicable regulations. |
5.1 Account and Identity
You must not:
Share, transfer, sell, or assign your Account or login credentials to any other person.
Create an Account on behalf of another person without RBA's express authorisation.
Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely represent your affiliation with RBA, a Member Institution, or any other organisation.
Solicit, collect, or otherwise attempt to obtain the login credentials of other Users.
5.2 Content and Conduct
You must not submit, post, upload, or otherwise generate through the Platform any content that:
Is violent, discriminatory, defamatory, harassing, threatening, abusive, hateful, or sexually suggestive.
Is unlawful, infringes the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of any third party.
Contains or discloses another person's private or confidential information without their consent, including financial details, identity numbers, or contact information.
Constitutes unsolicited commercial communications (spam) directed at other Users.
Misrepresents AI-generated content as human-generated. Where content has been created using artificial intelligence tools, you must include a clear disclosure to that effect.
5.3 Platform Integrity
You must not:
Introduce or transmit any malicious code, worms, viruses, spyware, or other disruptive software.
Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of the Platform or any of its components.
Use automated tools such as bots, scripts, scrapers, or crawlers to access, index, or extract data from the Platform.
Modify, adapt, or alter the Platform or any aspect of its appearance, or create a false impression that any third-party site is associated with RBA or the Platform.
Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Platform, its servers, or any connected systems.
Interfere with, disrupt, overburden, or impair the Platform or the experience of other Users.
5.4 Intellectual Property and Commercial Misuse
You must not:
Copy, reproduce, redistribute, publicly display, republish, frame, sublicense, resell, or commercially exploit any RBA Content without RBA's prior written consent.
Use RBA Content, including course materials and assessments, to train any artificial intelligence model or for any automated data extraction purpose.
Remove, alter, or conceal any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary rights notices on the Platform or any RBA Content.
Use RBA's name, logo, trademarks, or other branding elements without RBA's prior written consent.
5.5 Academic Integrity
All assessments and course work must be completed independently and honestly. You must not:
Have another person complete your assessments, exams, or course activities on your behalf.
Share assessment questions, answers, or materials with other Users.
Use unauthorised aids or resources during assessed activities.
Any breach of academic integrity will result in disqualification from the relevant course, and may result in suspension or termination of your Account. RBA reserves the right to notify your Member Institution of any academic integrity breach.
IMPORTANT: Violation of Section 5 may, in RBA's sole discretion, result in immediate Account suspension or termination, removal of your Content from the Platform, and referral to relevant regulatory or legal authorities. RBA reserves the right to take whatever action it deems appropriate in response to any breach of these terms. |
6. Intellectual Property Rights
6.1 RBA Content
All RBA Content on the Platform, including course materials, videos, assessments, graphics, logos, templates, and text, is the intellectual property of the Rwanda Bankers Association or its licensed content providers. All rights are reserved. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use RBA Content solely for your personal professional development in connection with your role at your Member Institution. This licence does not permit you to reproduce, adapt, distribute, or commercially exploit any RBA Content.
6.2 User Content
RBA does not claim ownership of User Content you submit to the Platform. By submitting User Content, you grant RBA a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, reproduce, display, and distribute that content for the purposes of operating the Platform, improving our services, and (with appropriate anonymisation) for reporting and research related to banking sector training outcomes.
By submitting User Content, you represent and warrant that: (i) you own or have the necessary rights and licences to submit that content; (ii) the content does not infringe any third party's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights; and (iii) you will comply with all applicable laws in connection with your submission.
6.3 Trademarks
The name "Rwanda Bankers Association," the RBA logo, and all related marks, names, and trade dress are the property of RBA. Nothing in this Agreement grants you any right to use these marks without RBA's prior written consent.
6.4 Feedback
If you provide RBA with suggestions, ideas, enhancement requests, or other feedback about the Platform ("Feedback"), you agree that RBA may freely use, disclose, and incorporate such Feedback into the Platform or its services without any obligation, compensation, or restriction. Feedback is not confidential and does not create any relationship beyond what is set out in this Agreement.
7. Course Enrolment, Completion, and Certification
7.1 Enrolment
Access to specific courses may be assigned by your Member Institution or made available for self-enrolment. Some courses may require the prior completion of prerequisite modules. RBA reserves the right to modify course availability, content, and enrolment criteria at any time.
7.2 Certification and CPD Credits
Upon successful completion of a course and any required assessments, you will receive a certificate of completion. RBA reserves the right to set minimum pass marks, determine whether a course qualifies for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) recognition, and withdraw or amend certifications if it discovers that completion requirements were not genuinely met.
7.3 Withdrawal and Cancellation
RBA reserves the right to withdraw, modify, or suspend any course at any time. Where a paid course is withdrawn before you have completed it, RBA will endeavour to offer a suitable alternative or provide a refund proportionate to the unused access period.
8. Fees and Payment
Access to the Platform and its courses may be provided at no charge to employees of RBA member institutions, or may be subject to fees as determined by RBA or your Member Institution. Where fees apply:
All fees must be paid in full prior to course access being granted, unless otherwise agreed in writing with RBA.
You represent and warrant that any payment information you provide is accurate, complete, and that you are authorised to use the payment method provided.
Fees are non-refundable once course access has been activated, except where a course is withdrawn by RBA before completion, as described in Section 7.3.
RBA reserves the right to amend course fees at any time, with reasonable advance notice provided to Member Institutions and affected Users.
Any applicable taxes will be charged in addition to the stated course fee, in accordance with Rwandan law.
9. Third-Party Services and Links
9.1 Third-Party Links
The Platform may contain links to third-party websites or resources. RBA does not endorse, control, or take responsibility for the content, privacy practices, or availability of any third-party sites. Your access to and use of third-party sites is at your own risk and subject to those sites' own terms and policies.
9.2 Third-Party Tools and Integrations
Certain features of the Platform may be powered by or integrated with third-party service providers. Your use of those features may be subject to the third party's own terms of service and privacy policy, which will be identified at the point of use. RBA is not responsible for the actions or omissions of any third-party service provider.
10. Platform Availability and Modifications
10.1 Availability
RBA endeavours to maintain the Platform's availability at all times but does not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or continuous access. The Platform may be temporarily unavailable due to scheduled maintenance, technical issues, or circumstances beyond RBA's reasonable control (including force majeure events such as natural disasters, power failures, or acts of government).
10.2 Modifications
RBA reserves the right to modify, update, suspend, or discontinue any feature, content, or aspect of the Platform at any time, without prior notice. This includes adding new features, changing the user interface, or removing content that is no longer current or relevant. RBA will endeavour to communicate significant changes to Users where reasonably practicable.
10.3 Beta Features
RBA may from time to time make pre-release, preview, or beta features available on the Platform. Such features are provided for evaluation purposes and may contain bugs or incomplete functionality. RBA may discontinue beta features at any time. Information about beta features is confidential to RBA unless RBA has made it publicly available.
11. Privacy and Data Protection
Your use of the Platform is also governed by the RBA Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into this Agreement by reference. By using the Platform, you consent to the collection, processing, and use of your personal data as described in the Privacy Policy. RBA processes all personal data in accordance with the Rwanda Data Protection Law (Law No. 058/2021) and applicable international data protection standards including the GDPR.
12. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Platform and all RBA Content are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, RBA makes no warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to:
That the Platform will meet your specific requirements or expectations.
That the Platform will be continuously available, uninterrupted, timely, or error-free.
That all RBA Content is accurate, complete, up to date, or fit for any particular purpose.
That the Platform is free from viruses, malicious code, or other harmful components.
RBA Content is provided for professional development and informational purposes only. It is not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional, regulator, or legal counsel. You must not rely solely on Platform content for regulatory, legal, financial, or compliance decisions.
Nothing in this clause limits RBA's liability for death, personal injury, or fraud caused by its own negligence or wilful misconduct.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable Rwandan law, RBA shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use the Platform, including but not limited to:
Loss of data, content, or course progress.
Loss of income, revenue, business opportunity, or goodwill.
Business interruption or system failure.
Damage to your device, computer, or equipment caused by accessing the Platform.
RBA's total aggregate liability to you in connection with this Agreement and your use of the Platform shall not, in any circumstances, exceed the total amount paid by you to RBA for access to the Platform in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in this Agreement shall limit or exclude RBA's liability where such limitation or exclusion is not permitted by applicable law.
14. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless RBA, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with:
Your use of or access to the Platform.
Your breach or alleged breach of this Agreement.
Your User Content.
Your violation of any third party's rights, including intellectual property, privacy, or confidentiality rights.
Your violation of any applicable law, regulation, or regulatory requirement.
Any misrepresentation made by you in connection with your use of the Platform.
RBA reserves the right to assume exclusive control of the defence of any matter otherwise subject to indemnification by you, at your expense. You agree to cooperate fully with RBA in asserting any available defences.
15. Discussion Forums and Collaborative Features
Where the Platform includes discussion forums, peer learning groups, comment sections, or other collaborative tools, you agree that all contributions you make will:
Be relevant, professional, and respectful of all other Users.
Not contain defamatory, offensive, discriminatory, or unlawful content.
Not infringe the intellectual property or privacy rights of any third party.
Not constitute spam, advertising, or promotional material unrelated to the learning context.
RBA reserves the right, but has no obligation, to monitor, review, edit, or remove any User Content or discussion contribution at any time and in its sole discretion, without notice or liability to you. RBA does not endorse any User Content and is not responsible for its accuracy or completeness.
16. Assignment
Your right to use the Platform and all licences granted to you under this Agreement are personal to you and may not be assigned, transferred, sublicensed, or otherwise dealt with, whether by operation of law or otherwise. Any purported assignment or transfer in violation of this clause is null and void. RBA may assign or transfer its rights and obligations under this Agreement at any time, including in connection with a merger, acquisition, or transfer of all or substantially all of its assets.
17. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
17.1 Governing Law
This Agreement and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with it shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Rwanda, without regard to its conflict of laws provisions.
17.2 Informal Resolution
Before initiating any formal legal proceedings, you agree to first contact RBA at info@rba.rw and attempt to resolve the dispute informally. RBA will endeavour to respond and engage in good faith within thirty (30) days of receiving your written notification of the dispute.
17.3 Formal Proceedings
If a dispute cannot be resolved informally within thirty (30) days, either party may initiate formal proceedings. All legal proceedings arising out of or in connection with this Agreement shall be brought exclusively before the competent courts of Rwanda. Both parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of those courts.
Notwithstanding the above, either party may seek urgent interim or injunctive relief from a competent court before the expiry of the informal resolution period where necessary to protect intellectual property rights or prevent irreparable harm.
18. Entire Agreement, Severability, and Waiver
18.1 Entire Agreement
This Agreement, together with the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, constitutes the entire agreement between you and RBA with respect to your use of the Platform and supersedes all prior agreements, representations, warranties, and understandings relating to the same subject matter.
18.2 Severability
If any provision of this Agreement is found by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, that provision shall be deemed modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable. The remaining provisions of this Agreement shall continue in full force and effect.
18.3 Waiver
RBA's failure to enforce any provision of this Agreement shall not constitute a waiver of that provision or of RBA's right to enforce it subsequently. No waiver of any provision shall be effective unless made in writing and signed by an authorised representative of RBA.
18.4 Interpretation
Section headings are included for convenience only and shall not be used in interpreting this Agreement. The term "including" shall be construed to mean "including without limitation." Any provision of this Agreement that by its nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, indemnification, limitation of liability, and governing law provisions) will continue to apply after the expiry or termination of this Agreement.
19. Changes to These Terms and Conditions
RBA may revise these Terms and Conditions from time to time. Revised terms will be posted on the Platform with an updated effective date. For material changes, RBA will provide advance notice to registered Users by email or by displaying a prominent notice on the Platform. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date of any revision constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not accept the revised terms, you must stop using the Platform and may request account deletion by contacting info@rba.rw.
